This webquest has been designed to help you understand various grail legends in literature.  

You will be assigned to a group to explore one of the following:

 *King Arthur Legends

 *Christian Legends

 *The Grail in religions other than Christianity (Kabala, Celtic, and Eastern Religions)

 *Conspiracy Theories – Knights Templar, Priory of Sion, The Da Vinci Code            

 * Other Characters’ Quests for the Grail (ex. Chretien's tale Le Conte de Graal

 You will present your findings to the class with the aid of a PowerPoint presentation.

You are to answer the following questions in your presentation, remembering to answer those questions in light of the focus that you have been assigned.

 * What is the Holy Grail? What name is used for it, and what does that word mean?   What does it look like?  How does the theory you researched explain it physically? 

 * What are the myths associated with it? Does the grail possess special powers?  What type of people seek the grail?  Are they successful?  What type of person has access to the grail? 

 * When was the Holy Grail first documented in your research?  Did the theories involving the grail change over time?  Explain.

 * Based on your research, why do you think the legend surrounding the grail was created?  Why do you think there are so many varying accounts?

 * Give examples of contemporary works which allude to the Holy Grail theory that you researched.  How do these examples relate to your research?
